Facility

THE MAIN HOUSE: Built with local wood, the main house is spacious and light, with lovely views of the lake and forest. The main floor includes a large central sitting area for guests, with four double guest-rooms and two shared bathrooms. In the summer the screened sunporch is a popular spot to relax.

One interesting feature is our solar electric tower. Stillwaters is an off-grid retreat. The sun provides our electricity and hot water. The tower rotates like a sunflower, tracking the sun.

YURTS: Nearby, three yurts and a gazebo can sleep another ten to twelve guests. A yurt is a large Mongolian tent. We have the modern North American version with wood floors, skylights and screened door. Each yurt has a wood stove and running water, futon and bunk beds, table and chairs. The large yurt sleeps five; the medium yurt four; and the baby yurt, three.

Our policy is “Silence is golden” —  no motor boats, sea-doos, ski-doos, TV or loud music. There is no smoking inside the buildings.
